Are house plants toxic for dogs? Nature has a way of preserving itself, and, therefore some house plants are toxic to dogs and their humans.

Dogs are adorable creatures that are full of curiousity, that can leave them at risk for danger. As their human part our job is to help them navigate the world safely, and that means learning about what’s toxic and not… even house plants!

While these pretty petals and lush green leaves look innocent enough,  many are not. A wide variety of plants can make a dog sick, and sometimes with fatal results.

So if you are adopting a dog or already have one, a safe bet is opting for some fun fake greenery or proofing your home with the non toxic varieties.

While the gel inside is edible and used in many products if consumed as a whole can be toxic to dogs. Eating the whole plant has been observed to show symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, and nausea in dogs.

According to one article this is one of UK’s 5 most poisonous plants. This plant promotes uniqueness and variety in your garden. The flower of this plant is appealing color, and sometimes, it is in green, which sometimes makes it look like a plant with a flower-like that of a leaf.

When consumed by animal, it causes excessive drooling, difficulty swallowing, oral irritation, and much more.


Peacock Flower

This plant is called peacock flower because of the flower that this plant is similar in form to that of the peacock. This is a beautiful plant that turns heads.

When swallowed by our majestic creature, the results are severing as it causes intense burning, oral irritation, excessive drooling, and much more. It has been that this plant capable of killing rabbits.


Amaryllis

This plant belongs to the family of lilies, and like them, this plant also has a beautiful flower that demands attention from anyone who looks at it. The flower of this plant is enormous, along with being colorful.

Red 6 Petaled Flower

Once consumed by our adorable pets, it results in tremors, vomiting, depression, diarrhea, and hypersalivation.


Crane flower

The flower of this plant gives out several different colors that attract people towards it. The flower is shaped correspondingly to that of a bird opening its beak and sticking out its tongue. Hence it is also known as Bird’s tongue flower.

However, as the chewing habits of our cute animals go, they chew on this flower, which results in drowsiness, nausea, and vomiting.


Butterfly Irises

The most straightforward way to describe this flower is by saying it’s a butterfly on the iris. This flower will compel you to be joyed when looking at it. It has a unique shape, and it is colorful with beautiful designs.

However, do not be fooled for its beauty and buy this without thinking of your domestic pet as when our cute pets swallow this, it causes salivation, drooling, vomiting, and lethargy.

The first thing that strikes our mind when we think of jasmine is the sweet, aromatic smell it produces. Once you walk past this flower, the scent is sure to grab your attention and make you wonder, wow! This is a tempting aroma to add to our home but as nice as it is these house plants are toxic for dogs.

By this point in this article, you might have guessed that what is good for us may not always suit the majestic animals we have at our house. And so, when swallowed by dogs, it causes hives, diarrhea, and mild vomiting.
